Wendell's career as a wicketkeeper batsman has spanned more than 10 seasons. An avid user of the KPR and P1 ranges of equipment, Wendell averages well over 30 in both forms of the game and has scored 5 first class hundreds and 32 first class fifties. He has taken over 450 catches in first class and limited overs competitions.  Wendall has captained Giqualand West since 2004.

Curiously given his position behind the stumps, he also boasts a first class bowling average of less than 17.5 with best bowling of 3-16.
